Meta Data Repository

Meta Data Repository

Meta Data Repository (MDR) – The MDR was software developed by Healthcare Simulations Inc for improving the documentation of databases.  Unlike a Data Dictionary the MDR is targeted towards Data Managers compared to Database Administrators.

This software was created due to seeing alot of undocumented databases over time.  The current meta data documentation toolkits seem to be oriented towards the programmer or database administrator.  However, a tool needs to be created for the data manager or end user that describes not only the tables and columns but also the information that is stored within each column.  A prime example are what encoded values mean and when codes/values were added or deleted. The software should also provide a graphical representation of the column — both in terms of a categorical view as well as a time series view.

Meta Data Repository has the following features:

  • Summary and Detailed Reports
  • Support for multiple databases including Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, Mircosoft SQLServer and Microsoft Access.
  • Available as a standalone application or as a Web-based solution (requires WebReports)
